After finishing the Mongol Rally, we decided to drive the car back to Belgium. This way, we had the time to explore more cities. One of these was Moscow. Weβve heard a lot of Moscow, about how big and magnificent the city is, so we were pretty stoked to see it with our own eyes. We must say, itβs well worth a visit. Unfortunately, our visaβs were going to expire in a few days, so we just had the time to visit the city in a little more than 24 hours. Our day was well-filled. If youβre like us and donβt have a lot of time to visit the city, you can follow our one-day itinerary or get some ideas on what to do.

When going on a long-term travel adventure or any other backpacking trip, one of the most important things is what to take and how to pack. Your backpack will be your house during your whole trip. So itβs important to have the essentials with you while keeping it light. Itβs easy to overpack and it can happen very quickly. Which is logical. The first time you pack, youβll pack for the βwhat ifβ situations. This usually occurs when you have no idea what may await you. We had the same problem in the beginning. To be fair, we already sent a package back home the first week of our trip with things we actually didnβt need to carry along. We wrote this to help fellow adventurers, so they donβt make the same mistake we did. Of course, not everyone travels the same like us, and everyone has its personal needs. But find out our packing list to travel around for more than a year and how we try to keep it light! We hope this will help you to pack smart and as light as possible!

It has been exactly one year since we left on our long-term travel journey. In this period, we already had the time of our lives and we had several crazy experiences along the way. From the bustling city to the calmness of the countryside in just two hours of traveling. The diversity in its geographical landscapes, the great (and sometimes bizarre) food and the culture of China appealed us already for a long time. Traveling through this country first looked difficult because of the language barrier, the extreme difference in culture and the overpopulation. But it was a great experience! It became our starting point for our travels around Asia because it was the perfect way to indulge ourselves in the Asian cultures and their way of life. When we arrived in Hong Kong and started planning our itinerary, we didnβt found any useful information online on what to choose as our next destination with Hong Kong as our starting point. Thatβs why we want to share our one month itinerary with you, so you can get to see some of the coolest things that China has to offer!
Asia is a big, fascinating continent with a lot of interesting cultures, traditions, and people. Most of you heard some crazy things like the fact that you can buy a can of fresh air in China or that people in Thailand eat fried insects. Well, here are ten interesting and fun facts about Asia that you probably haven’t heard before!
Entering Kyrgyzstan went pretty easy. Most European nationalities donβt need a visa if they intend to stay less than two months. The border guards of Kyrgyzstan were super friendly. They stamped our passport, we paid for the car insurance and gave them a sticker to put on their locker. They checked the car very briefly and wished us good luck for the rest of the Mongol Rally.
