The purpose of the Liebster Award is to give small bloggers more recognition and to get discovered more easily. It only exists online and goes around from blogger to blogger, usually to blogs with less than 200 followers. We are very happy that Cassandra from SimpleWonderer nominated us for this award! This award gives us more energy to keep on going with this blog and shows us that our readers and the blogger community like our stories!

Traditional instrumental Thai music is playing in the background, two small -but strong- men step into the ring at opposite corners, and the crowd is shouting. Everyone gets excited about the new Muay Thai fight that’s going to take place in a couple of minutes. Locals are yelling to each other and passing around their money towards the bookmakers to place their bets. The fighters perform a ritual dance to pay homage to their trainer and family and to bless themselves for getting victory in the ring. After getting hyped up by their coach, the fighters go and stand in the middle of the ring, greet their opponent, look each other in the eyes and get in fighting position. We are attending a professional Muay Thai fight in Bangkok for free!

When we were in Sapa, with an almost expired visa, we had to go into Laos so we wouldn’t overstay our visa. We hesitated a lot what the best option could be, but knowing that we’re on a budget, we opted to take the bus journey to Muang Khua in Laos. There are a lot of horror stories about the bus ride on the internet that scared us. But it seems that a lot of them are outdated. Here you’ll find our thoughts and up-to-date facts about this 24-hour journey.
