Australia is a fantastic country to visit, but don’t fall into some of the tourist mistakes we will mention here. You don’t want to come a gutser (Australian for making a bad mistake), so ensure you pay attention to the following if you are planning on going down under any time soon.
If you’re planning to visit the west coast of Australia, you are not alone. The city of Perth attracts 3.5 visitors, including almost one million international guests, each year. It is a particularly tourist-friendly city that is sure to provide the magical memories you crave from a stunning vacation.
After only a short 60-minute drive, you find yourself on one of the world’s most beautiful coastal roads, better known as The Great Ocean Road. We guess that everyone has already heard or seen pictures of The Twelve Apostles, the series of rock formations that stand out in the ocean. But besides this, there’s a lot more to discover along the way. You pass along the best surf beaches in the world, into thick rain forests where you can spot wild koala’s to rugged coastlines in just a couple of hours.
Our last house sitting assignment was probably the best we could have. We did it here in Australia on a family run cattle farm, where we learned a lot of new skills and had heaps of new experiences. Not only did we have to occupy ourselves with the pregnant cows, but we also started bottle feeding two newborn lambs!
Checking twice a day to see if the pregnant cows haven’t calved already, making sure that they can’t escape the multiple huge paddocks because of fallen trees over fences after a storm, and doing all this by motorbike. But also checking the flock of sheep, and even bottle feeding newly born baby lambs. This isn’t an ordinary house sitting assignment. This is probably the best house sitting experience we could wish for!
It has been exactly one year since we left on our long-term travel journey. In this period, we already had the time of our lives and we had several crazy experiences along the way.
